The Hip-Hop Community Mourns DJ WhiteOwl

Notable mixtape DJ, DJ WhiteOwl, passed away this past Sunday, June 6th. He is well known for his “Drop That” mixtape series, and his his famous tagline, “DJ WhiteOwl, drop that!” News of his death traveled fast and left not only the DJ community but fans worldwide — who have been listening to his tapes for years — shocked and saddened.

His cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but according to reports, he died from “an undisclosed long-term illness.” Pokerface, a close friend of the DJ, took to Instagram and announced the DJ’s unfortunate passing. He posted a picture captioned, “Rest in Peace Rob. I’ll see you on the other side. Just gotta be strong and tell you thank you. See you in heaven, my brother.” Joe Budden, Styles P, DJ Green Lantern and others, paid their respect to the late DJ, expressing their gratitude on their Twitter accounts.

This is the second loss to hit the DJ community in the past six months; this past December, beloved Chicago DJ and radio personality Timothy “Timbuck2” Jones — known for fostering the local scene — passed after a long battle with cancer. The AAHH family would like to send our condolences to WhiteOwl’s family and friends.

RIP
