Rapper Lupe Fiasco has expressed interest in reviving Child Rebel Soldier (CRS), the hip-hop supergroup he formed with Kanye West and Pharrell Williams in 2007.
In a recent interview with Stereogum, Fiasco reflected on the impact of CRS, calling it “one of the most powerful moments in hip-hop, period.” He emphasized the genuine friendship and creative synergy among the group members, stating, “We were all friends, we were all fans of each other’s music, and we were all pushing each other to do something different.”
The Chicago-born artist highlighted the group’s significance beyond music, describing it as “making a movement” rather than just creating songs.
Regarding a potential reboot, Fiasco said, “I think it’s time to get back to that energy, get back to that spirit.” He expressed a desire to reunite with West and Williams, aiming to recapture the original essence that made CRS special.
CRS released two singles during its active period: “Us Placers” in 2007 and “Don’t Stop!” in 2010. The group disbanded in 2013, but its brief collaboration left a lasting impact on hip-hop culture.
While no concrete plans have been announced, Fiasco’s comments have sparked speculation among fans about a possible CRS reunion.
