A&E Network will air the first official documentary about Ol’ Dirty Bastard, the Grammy-nominated rapper and Wu-Tang Clan founding member, on August 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Ol’ Dirty Bastard: A Tale of Two Dirtys, a two-hour special, is co-directed by Emmy and Peabody Award winner Sam Pollard and his son Jason Pollard. The documentary features interviews with ODB’s family, friends, and fellow artists, including Mariah Carey and Wu-Tang Clan members Raekwon and Ghostface Killah.

The film, produced by Pulse Films, Four Screens, and the Ol’ Dirty Bastard Estate, offers an intimate look at ODB’s life through never-before-seen personal archives. It explores his rise to fame, struggles with addiction and mental illness, and untimely death in 2004.

“I am so happy to have brought this documentary about my husband’s life to the screen. He was and is an inspiration to my family, children, and fans across the world. It’s been amazing to work on this project with my partners at Four Screens, as well as Pulse and A&E,” says administrator of the Estate of ODB and wife Icelene Jones.

“Like all of hip-hop, I have missed his energy. This project has let me know that he is alive and well in all of our hearts.”

Born Russell Jones in Brooklyn in 1968, ODB became known for his unique persona and rhyme style. The documentary examines his solo career from 1995 to 2004, while also delving into his childhood experiences and their impact on his artistry.

The film aims to celebrate ODB’s legacy while critically examining the media and music industry’s role in his downfall.
