50 Cent’s 2003 hit “Many Men” has seen a resurgence on the iTunes charts following an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The rapper acknowledged the song’s newfound popularity on X (formerly Twitter), sharing an edited version of his “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” album cover featuring Trump’s face superimposed on his body. “Trump gets shot and now I’m trending,” 50 Cent wrote in the caption.
Trump supporters flooded the comments section of the post, celebrating the former president’s survival. One user wrote, “Trump is unstoppable, not even bullet can stop him. He is winning this for us Americana! Build the statue NOW!!” while another suggested that 50 Cent should join Trump on stage at his next appearance, stating it would “cause pandemonium.”
According to reports, Trump narrowly escaped the assassination attempt by turning his head slightly to the right just as the gun was fired, resulting in the bullet only grazing his ear. In an interview with the New York Post, Trump said, “I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead. The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle.”
“Many Men” famously references 50 Cent’s own experience of surviving being shot nine times in 2000. The song’s lyrics and themes have resonated with fans in light of Trump’s recent brush with death.
