Following his first single, “Summer Breeze,” Cali-based Clyde Kelly is back with a new single “Knox,” a reference to the location of the largest portion of the US’s gold reserves, Fort Knox.
“As much as I love a feel-good, easy-listening track like Summer Breeze, I also know that a punchy, high-energy hip-hop song like Knox has a time and place,” Clyde Kelly said in an interview. “Growing up in North Carolina, I would always hear about Fort Knox. It wasn’t too far away. And when I first heard this beat, I thought to myself, ‘wow, this beat knocks.'” The result: a hook about heaps of gold over a knocking beat.
At the top of the year, Clyde landed a deal with Indie label Halliburton Productions; he’s currently working with on his debut album, expected to drop this September — in time for back to school!
