Since the beginning of 2016, we have been successfully getting some outstanding album releases or projects by some of our favorite rappers. The consistency of new music gushing our ears is bringing nothing but excitement and anticipation for what’s coming within the year of 2016. So far these albums had wowed us and kicked off 2016 to a great start for music. We have:
- The Life of Pablo by Kanye West Ranked No.1 on the Billboards Music Chart
- Untitled Unmastered by Kendrick Lamar Ranked No.1 on the Billboards Music Chart
- Views by Drake Currently ranking No.1 on Billboards music Chart
- Anti by Rihanna Ranked No.1 on the Billboards Music Chart
- Coloring Book by Chance the Rapper
- Lemonade by Beyonce Ranked No.1 on the Billboards Music Chart
- Twenty88 by Big Sean and Jhene Aiko
- EVOL by Future Ranked No.1 on the Billboards Music Chart
So exactly what is coming next? We are eagerly waiting on a few artists that promised us some tunes this year, dropped hints or that has been under a rock doing celebrity things for the past years. Here are some artists that we have been anticipating to kick the summer off with an album release.
Frank Ocean
It’s been years now since Frank Ocean released an album and fans are eagerly waiting on “Boys Don’t Cry” which is rumored to be releasing at the end of July. But then again, it was rumored to be released back in 2015, after many other artists started dropping hints about a track entitled “White Ferrari.” So, who or what should be believed at this point FRANK? If given a better album than Channel Orange, we might just forgive you for the wait.
Childish Gambino and Chance the Rapper
Even though both artists have released new music and are no strangers to appearances on other tracks, they both did mention a collaborative project (EP) back in 2014. Childish Gambino did confess in an interview back in 2014 that, “Chance is doing his own thing with the college tour and everything. Right now, it just doesn’t feel like the time. Plus, we’re in two different spaces” Well, we do understand that time difference can be a big issue, but it is now two years later. We are all patiently — actually not so patiently waiting for the two to attack us this summer with a mind blowing project. Especially after Chance the Rapper did confirm that the project is still breathing.
J Cole
At the beginning of the year, J Cole spiced things up by airing a special visual on HBO. Even though there aren’t any rumors about Cole releasing any albums this year, the rapper did drop a hopeful statement at the end of “Black Friday Freestyle” saying, “Bet shit get scary when I fuck around and drop..” Whether it may be just a bluff or a juicy hint, we are still expecting a surprise release from the genius sooner or later within the year.
André 3000
Hip Hop’s most influential figure, Andre 3000 has been on a hiatus for quite some time, but, we can arguably say, it is deserving. The futuristic, funky style, the street sound rapper has left a great legacy along with his group member Big Boi. However, rumors have been circulating that Andre 3K is back in the studio and will be releasing an album within the year. Whether this may be another bluff or an anticipating, waiting for the game, we still respect the SpottieOttieDopaliscious artist regardless!
