Psycho Les and JuJu, better known to the world as the Beatnuts, are not only the only Latin members of the infamous Native Tongues Collective, they’re also two of the dopest producers from the golden era. From the onset of their debut, which included such records as “Reign Of The Tec” and the classic “Props Over Here,” they established themselves as formidable voices on the NYC scene. Throughout the heyday of 90’s East Coast music, they did a gang of damage behind the boards, becoming b-side kings as they remixed numerous hit records for some of the biggest names in hip-hop.

They’re immortal status, though, was signed, sealed, and delivered, when they dropped the record, “Off The Books,” featuring Big Pun. Other certified, charted hits by the Nuts include “No Escaping This” featuring Greg Nice and “Watch Out Now,” which were club/radio mainstays. They are still active and are currently working with the Alkoholiks, with whom they’ve formed the super group Liknuts.

Plain and simple, if you haven’t explored their vast catalogue, do so. Their unique Latin twist and jazzy 90’s sensibility is incomparable. Today, though, as Psycho Les celebrates his born day, we thought we’d dig through the crates and pull out our top 20 Beatnuts beats. So sit back, get lit — however you do so — call 1-800-EAT-NUTS and wait for the dial tone.

Happy Birthday, Psycho Les!
