Colombian-American, and Elizabeth, New Jersey, raised rap artist, Asuco, made the transition from a long-time fan of hip-hop to a full-blown cultural contributor; he’s now using the art form as an outlet to tell his story to the world. His sound is more 90s — with influences that span from the likes of the lyrical Rubix cube, Canibus, and the late Christopher Rios, better known as Big Punisher. His Soundcloud has tons of joints available for streaming — but his latest release, “My Brother,” is an aggressive bar-filled example of what Asuco is bringing to the table. With a cadence the vaguely resembles Pun meshed with the likes of Kool G Rap, he’s sure to satisfy real heads.
