Don’t call it a comeback; Top Dawg Entertainment MC REASON’s latest single, “At It Again,” could be a sign of dope things. The track, available on TDE and Virgin Records and produced by Tariq Beats, strongly indicates the Carson, CA artist’s return to album mode–nearly two years since New Beginnings.
Reason gained notoriety with his mixtapes, In The Meantime and The Free Album, before being featured on the Black Panther soundtrack in 2018. That same year, he signed with TDE and released the mixtape There You Have It. In 2020, he released his debut album, New Beginnings, which had been delayed as he worked to overcome fear, anxiety, doubt, and a negative mindset–a revelation revealed via a lengthy post via a long-since deleted Instagram post.
“Through it all I’m just proud and thankful for the opportunity to share this part of myself with y’all,” he added. “Humbled and thankful to all of y’all that have been patient with me but I’m proud to say ‘soon’ is almost here.”
There is still much to learn about the upcoming sophomore album, but we’ll be looking for more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
