Q&A With Minneapolis Rapper Corp

Rappers Corporate (shortened to Corp) and Moonshie Sax are two , MN, native bringing a unique new sound to the scene. It’s a familiar blend of jazz and hip-hop that dominated the golden era, but with a more diverse twist that incorporates contemporary radio quality and eclectic influences. Their newest single, “It’s You,” provides (what Corp describes as) an “old school Eagles vibe.” The song depicts the concept of love to be something that never changes when traveling the journey that is life [beyond music]; rather it runs parallel to it.

We recently sat with Corp and Moonshieand did our world famous AAHIPHOP Q&A. Check out their answers below, and be sure to check out the new single.

How did you get started in the game?

I started by writing poetry in when I was in college. I purchased a cheap mic and built my studio in our basement.

Who were your main influences?

My influences early on were Eagles, Electric Light Orchestra, Gucci Mane, Snoop Dog, and Wiz Khalifa to name a few.

Tell me about your recent stuff — what’s the vibe you’re going for?

Current music I’ve been making has been all positive vibes. Moonshie Sax and I have been collaborating on a sax/hip hop blend of music that has a jazzy feel.

How would you describe your sound?

A lot of people compare my music to Mac Miller, but yeah, I’d define my sound now as jazz mixed with new school. I’m still progressing each day on my sound.

What’s your ultimate goal (in hip-hop)?

I want to make it my job. Whether it be an artist, producer, writer. I’m working to grow on all levels. Networking to learn from others as well.

What do you want people to know about you?

Whatever happens didn’t happen overnight. It’s a continuous growth cycle when you’re an artist, and I have been making music that reflects all 12 months out of my year.

Indie v.s. major label — what’s your take?

I like being independent. I’ve learned to love being my boss and being able to provide opportunities for others when I can. Who knows what the future holds.

Any last words?

Be on the lookout for a duo project with Moonshie Sax, a solo project, and a ton of visuals that capture what we want the world to know.
