25-year-old Oneup2Lovett — who we’ve featured numerous times here at AAHIPHOP — recently released his second mixtape of the year, INFLUENCED. Officially released by #3rdTribe, Black^Nati, and Small City Big Sounds records, it’s an eleven song showcase of his musically rich, dense rhyme schemes. His bar about needing to read the lyrics to catch everything on the first [real] track on the project, “,” couldn’t be more accurate. New and OG fans will be tapping their digital rewind buttons for a few days with this one.
The album is a melting pot of styles, punchlines, salutes, and even subliminal disses to some of the cats he feels aren’t up to snuff within the [Michigan] hip-hop scene. He’s out for respect and keys to the city; INFLUENCED lives up to its name in many ways and is worth a spot on your playlist this week.
