There’s something oddly nostalgic about 23-year-old Dallas, Texas, rapper Mellow The Muse’s cadence; she has a sound and style that reminds me of numerous 90’s female acts like Gangsta Boo and Mia X. Albeit, Mellow is more—well—mellow, in a good way. She’s been writing music since 9 and worked on learning production about two years before deciding to start recording music. Her upcoming project, Pro Bono: For The Public Good, features the new single “Cousins.” As she explains, “I wrote this as a reflection of personal family issues that I know many of us face. I want those who listen to realize that no matter the circumstances family is important and we should all strive to maintain those bonds.”

It’s a pretty real-ass record, worth a spin! Knock it below, and—as always—if you’re feeling it, mash the share button.
