Kynard Tries To ‘Get Thru The Day’

Austin, Texas, based Kynard was a new name to me—but a great find. He has a cool mixture of vibes about him, mainly a Midwest 90s aesthetic sprinkled with that NYC lyricism. He led off with two impressive visuals, which introduced the LP Get Thru The Day, a well-curated gem that’s ten shots (seven songs and three interludes).

The project is just as organized and well structured as it is fractured thematically. It’s separated into three “acts” if you will, which are separated by interludes that aim to change the tone. The first act begins with the ‘rap-hustler-made it’ song “Yeah I Know,” with it’s slow, hypnotic beat and repetitive chant. That’s followed up by “Weekend,” which without question is the most easy-going record on the project, alluding to drinking, having a cookout—weekend shit.

For me, the project takes the most critical turn here for what I’ll call act two, which focuses more on social issues, self-reflection, and that everyday relatable points that make this project so relevant and compelling. The piano-driven “Get Thru The Day” stands as the anthem for the everyday man trying to get through the day as an African American fed up with the overbearing amount of shit that [many of us] of us are faced with. “Friend or Foe” is beautiful—to put it mildly. It loosely explores the paranoid mentality of social inequality and injustice that many are feeling throughout the US these days.

The final act contains tracks for the ladies—kind of. “Conversations with Bae” is relatable as hell, but still squarely focused on vocalizing to the females in the crowd.

On the whole, the project sees Kynard dipping through a few lanes without slowing his speed—except maybe “Weekend” which felt disjointed after I was done with the complete project. Solid straight through listening with some replay value, especially ‘act 2.’ Don’t sleep!

Fresco – “Vibe Foreal” Ft Roze

Today Antidote Music artist Fresco drops the video for his song “Vibe Foreal” Ft. Roze. With dosed up verses from both Fresco and Roze, the duo drip line after line over buoyant production that will have the fans “geekin” just like the song says.

While Fresco was always into rap music, he got his first taste of superstardom sneaking into the backstage area at the Rolling Loud Festival in 2016. Fresco ended up meeting the who’s who of popular artists like Post Malone and Lil Uzi Vert spawning his desire to take his raps seriously. Since that experience in 2016 Fresco has made incredible strides, working with a host of artists including Gunna and the highly accomplished and talented producer Bandplay, who exclusively produced Key Glock and Young Dolph’s recent Dum and Dummer project

“I’m giving you my sound and I’m giving you my all on my records,” Fresco said “We had some people that came up out of Nashville but the game wasn’t really passed down to a lot of the other people, so I’ve been learning as I go just like everyone else. Out here it’s like everyone is racing to get there first trying to make it, so its def competitive. At the end of the day, Nashville is still figuring it out it’s sound, but I think I got some great records that the fans are really going to love.”

Developing a plan and slowing growing his brand with a website and merchandise Fresco has created a structure that has enabled him to develop his fanbase at a rapid pace.

“Right now I’m taking it a step at a time and I’m working on getting my catalog up and I’m just working on stacking so I can get more content together. I’m working on getting booking for festivals and I’m about to be doing a bunch of shows myself. My website with tour info and merchandise will all be on there soon too,” Fresco said.

“Its taken time to get this point and we’re still working. You have to have some sort of structure, but you have to have a game plan overall. I haven’t made it and I know that much so far. I’ve watched many interviews and I know you got to have a plan, because most people don’t make it over night. Even one hit wonders have to eventually have a plan and structure, but when it’s time to go it’s time to go and we’re taking off, just watch.”

Recently GlobeRunners Entertainment, CEO and founder Hollyhood Bugz spoke to the press about his rising movement in New York City that’s quickly growing it’s buzz in the streets of Brooklyn.

Originally designed as a way to get kids off the streets, Hollyhood Bugz’ new rap collective the GlobeRunners embodies Hip-Hop’s original spirit; get the kids off the streets and give them something constructive to do. Accompanied by Backdoor Movements CEO, BDM Smit, the GlobeRunners are pointed in the right direction away from crime and the confinements of jail, with a renewed focus on pushing the newest track, “The Cypher.”

“I started making music when I was probably like 13 or 14 years old in a juvenile jail as a way to express myself. I kept seeing the kids on my block needing direction, so I’m just trying to creative platform to put the kids on my block in a position where they can be doing something constructive and be successful,” Hollyhood Bugz explained. “I’ve taken a lot of trips around the world and the kids see that. I feel like its something that the world should hear though too. After I went to jail and stuff like that, the fact that I became a success out here despite the troubled beginnings shows the youth they can do the same thing too. So this is way deeper than rap.”

Inspired by the philanthropic nature of Jay-Z, Hollyhood Bugz draws inspiration from his fellow Brooklyn native that made it out and found ways to transform his community.

“I’m inspired by Jay-Z’s music because he’s from Brooklyn in the projects and for him to be where he is now, that inspires me overall with my circumstances. So I just want to create this way for the youth to find their path,” Hollyhood Bugz said.

Featuring a constantly developing roster at GlobeRunners Ent., Hollyhood Bugz has signed a host of talented and hungry artists including Willzbugatti, BiggsGTO, MaseratiMickey, Stellyhundo, Teddybucks and ShanPane. With ages ranging from 18-34, this Brooklyn based group collective puts one foot forward with,”The Cypher” and cohesive sound that goes far beyond the music.

“We have about 7 artists on the first song, it’s just called The Cypher. We put them on a fire beat and we just showing our lyrical progression. WillzBugatti and BiggsGTO, they have a track out right now called Heartless and it’s kind of a melodic feel for the younger generation. Then we got an EP out called Take Money and it has 6 songs on there. Everything is on the EP, we just trying to get the best out of the music we are pushing.”
