#GetFamiliar: Who Is Tink?

Timbaland, is one of those producers that has left his mark on the world. He has produced for Jay-Z, Nas, Ludacris, Madonna, Rihanna, One Republic, Brandy, Drake, and many others. I don’t know when Timbaland will come out with a new album but he did release a single called, “Know Bout Me,” last year. Besides that he does have a new artist on the scene named Tink.

He’s been promoting her for the last couple of months. For the Chicago rapper-singer working with Timbaland is huge because he is a hit maker. Her latest mixtape, Winter’s Diary 2 is what’s creating her buzz. Tink has also been in the studio with not only Timbaland but Kelela and DJ Dahi. She did a cover of Def Loaf’s “Try Me,” that has been all over the internet.

A plus is that she can sing and rap, not a lot of musicians nowadays have that talent. If you haven’t already, make sure you listen to her song, “Tell the children,” which Timbaland produced. It’s based on Mike Brown and whatever else is going on now involving police brutality. With lyrics like, “50 years later we still don’t have equality,” Tink is the type of artist we need. She is someone who is not afraid to say what’s on her mind in a world that wants everyone to be the same.

Tink is definitely someone to keep on your radar. If Timbaland is backing her up, you know she has skills! You should also check out the preview of her upcoming collaboration with Andre 3000 and Timbaland entitled UFO – she’s going to have a big 2015.
