AAHH EXCLUSIVE: Bay Area Artist LaFreshman Drops ‘Friends’

LA-transplant LaFreshman, aka Simba Short, is the new face of Bay Area new-age R&B. After a string of successful singles that have racked up over 100k on SoundCloud alone, the young artist — who started his career as a saxophone player at a young age — is dropping his biggest track yet, “Friends.”

“‘Friends’ is a feel good song,” he tells AAHH. “I needed to get back to having fun with the music — and the best way to do that was to get back making music with some of my closest homies. The song features production from his long time friend Larrenwong. “He made the very first beat I ever went in on years ago; we’ve graduated to making bangers!”

The song has the breezy flow of Post Malone’s “White Iverson,” with unmistakably more edge to it.

“I pull up on a nigga with the deuce-deuce, I ain’t fucking with you bitch you got some loose cooch … oh, that’s your girl you talking bout I got a loose screw, don’t get to talking too reckless I let my dudes loose,” he spits effortless, switching back and forth between aggressive and laid back bars.

Just in time for the tail-end of the scorching Summer season, LaFreshman is premiering his new piff right here on AAHH. So sit back, relax and catch a contact — give “Friends” a spin, below.
