Illinois rapper Steven Lean has been entrenched in music since his father, who gave him his first guitar at a young age. He is versed on many instruments, and after years of playing in different bands fell into hip-hop during his high school years. Throughout his late teens and 20s, he had numerous run-ins with the law — which he details quite vividly in his music.
His career mashed on the pause button when he faced another legal setback in 2014, but as of late 2015, when he was released on house arrest, he’s been on the grind heavy. He is completely self-sufficient; his latest release “My Sauce” was self-produced and engineered.
