Singer Crush: NYC’s Own Vita Has ‘It’

Listening to Vita’s Valentine’s Day release, “Can’t Turn Away,” takes me places; it has a vibe that I remember feeling when I first listened to a vinyl version of Alicia Key’s “Fallen” lifted in my homie’s basement back in early 2000. It’s a soulful record with a gorgeous flute filled instrumental to compliment Vita’s beautiful voice.

I’m also slightly intrigued by the mystery of her–she lacks an exhaustive bio anywhere online and has only a handful of tracks out there that we can find. What we do know about the Yonkers, New York, songbird is that she began writing at the age of 11 after the loss of her father (as per an article we found on This Is 50). It leaves us wanting more.

Check out the record for yourself–in the meantime, we’ll track hr down and get the scoop. Her Insta/Twitter is @vitagotsoul if you want to get at her!
