Success versus passion is a clash that comes to mind when you learn about producer Juan Donovan — one-half of Baltimore’s award winning Darkroom Productions. Along with his partner, Jamal Roberts, he’s racked up a list of A-list credits that are impressive, to say the least. We’re talking R Kelly, Wale, KD Lang, Brick Squad, Young Money, Maino, Kidd Kidd, Bad Boy, Dipset Byrdgang and [much] more. They also did some ground breaking work on HBO’s classic series “The Wire,” MTV’s #1 show “Rob & Big,” and some full-length documentary [film] work. Juan, however, has always had a desire to spread his wings and branch out artistically with his conceptual album, Sophisticated Ignorance, which will feature his lush, eclectic production coupled with a host of regional and international talent.
He recently dropped the first single from the project, “On The Low” featuring the super talented Emellodee. Expect the full project soon – but for now, turn it up and take in a taste of what’s to come.
