Interview With Alternative Rapper Day Day

Hip-Hop/Alternative artist Day Day has ever been afraid to blow past the limits in his music. He’s a blend of storytelling, emotional vulnerability and raw energy that grabs you by the collar and demand to be heard. His unmistakable intensity and passion for the music have helped him collaborated with hip-hop heavyweights, including but not limited to Young Buck, Lil Wyte, Jelly Roll, Twisted Insane and Cryptic Wisdom. He’s also rocked the stage with names like Juicy J, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Durk, and Caskey — amongst others.

He recently sat down with AAHIPHOP to chat about his music his influences, and more. Check out his latest visual, his newest project, No Days Off, and the interview (blow).

How did you get involved in music?

I got into music and started listing to it when I was 8-years-old, and I saw Kid Rock’s “Bawitdaba” music video for the first time. I was inspired so much by the music and visuals – I related so much what was going on in the video, and the sound was just how I felt, a lot of attitudes.i always say there would be no Day Day if it weren’t for Kid Rock and Eminem.

Who were some of your influences?

Kid Rock, Yelawolf, Hopsin, Mgk, and Tech N9ne, but Eminem music raised me; I’ve always related to Em the most. Its crazy its like he’s always been there for me with his music, when I was going through a really dak time in my life, he came out with relapse and it’s just so crazy how we were going through something so similar….I was having a lot of deaths around me, I was abusing sleep medications, I was suicidal, not doing well at all….. I started watching LOTS of horror movies …and became very fascinated and began to see how much I relate to some of these characters, Jason Voorhees the most – hints the hockey masks ( I drowned in a lake one time because of nobody watching me ). During his dark time, I found out he was looking at a lot of horror movies too

Tell me about the music you’re currently recording.

I’m focused right now on making real music with a strong message; I’m not into the trendy rap b.s.

How would you describe your sound?

raw, real, chopper, revolutionary.

What are your goals in the industry?

To change the world with a positive impact, be the best in the world, work with Eminem, and win an MTV Moon man!

What do you want people to take away from you as an artist?

Anything is possible if you believe in yourself. I was just a kid without a dollar in my pocket, and all I had was a dream. Success to me is an inspiration, because how are we supposed to know that what we dream is possible If nobody that looks like us makes it?

Do you want to remain independent or sign to a major label?

Oh hell yeah! That major Deal is what I’m working so hard for.

What should we be looking out for from you?

Right now I’m promoting my newest Project No Days Off, featuring Twisted Insane, Jelly Roll & Lil Wyte — and I’m going back out on Tour in September. Also, I’m working on my next release; It’s an EP called “Peter Parker” with Rich Gang/Cash Money Records artist “Caskey’s” engineer and producer, Luke Roswell.
