Get On Down Announces Exclusive 25th Anniversary Pressing of Big Pun’s ‘Capital Punishment’ Album

Get On Down has announced a new exclusive drop to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of Big Pun’s debut album Capital Punishment.

The limited edition 25th anniversary pressing comes with a colored double LP in a gatefold jacket, a double-sided OBI, and a limited edition 7-inch single.

Capital Punishment was released in 1998 and quickly became a commercial success, peaking at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart and eventually achieving platinum status. The album’s lead single, “Still Not a Player,” featuring Joe, became Pun’s biggest hit, reaching number 24 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and receiving heavy rotation on radio and music video channels.

The album also spawned other notable singles, such as “I’m Not a Player” and “You Came Up,” which helped solidify Big Pun’s status as a rising star in the hip-hop industry.

Pun’s unique flow and hard-hitting lyricism, along with the album’s polished production and guest features from hip-hop heavyweights such as Nas, Raekwon and Black Thought, made it a timeless classic that paved the way for Latinx representation in hip-hop.

As per their announcement, Get On Down notes this pressing ship until October. The limited edition 25th anniversary pressing, the standard jacket on double black vinyl, and the limited edition 7-inch single can all be pre-ordered now.

“Still Not A Player b/w Twinz (Deep Cover 98) (7″),” limited to 1000 copies, can also be pre-ordered now.
