It was just last year when Emil Aghayev—who performs under the monicker Emil 13—formally made his debut in the Hip Hop game with “Jump.” A (one-time) aspiring massage therapist, he suffered a severe thumb injury after a failed crowd surfing stunt at a concert in high school. When the chronic pain (post-high school) began to hinder his plans, he fell back on his real passion; he hasn’t looked back, and in 2018, it seems as though his gamble is paying off.
The Ontario (Canada) MC is kicking things up a notch with a brand new single “Spark It Up” featuring MMG rapper Gunplay; the notable feature (and nod) adds a glossy layer of mystic around the music he has coming down the pipe. With a high energy beat and Emil dropping rapid fire bars, the track has some life in it.
