Da Wolf – Illustrated

The DMV is home to an incredible amount of talent — from the likes of MMG rapper Wale to young Sinatra, Logic. It’s also here that one new young voice, Da-Wolf, is blazing her path into the industry, with a unique twist and an aggressive style. Having amassed a healthy following, dubbed her ‘Wolfpack’, she’s building a foundation towards reaching her dreams.
Her second official mixtape, Wolf’s Reign, is currently under production — but in the meantime, she’s dropped a new EP entitled Illustrated, a creative mash-up of 90’s nostalgia and hard-hitting new school sensibility. Producers Rheem, Mean SK, and JayJBeats created sonic beds built using elements of beloved 90’s animated shows including Dragon Ball Z, Tom and Jerry, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Ed Edd and Eddy, amongst others. Content wise, Da Wolf displays a confident and poised delivery on tracks like the lit EP opener I Do It, the rapid fire Supreme, and the in your face Watch Your Mouth. She does let a bit more of her ‘soft side’ out on the lighter Let’s Kick It and the Rugrats-sampled Cruise Control. The gem on this project, though, is that last track, Schemes, where she proclaims: “better get the word out, the wolf is on the prowl.” Indeed.

This is a pretty creative concept for an EP – Da Wolf has a bright future. Stay tuned for her upcoming mixtape. For now, take an ear to the EP below.
