Not a lot of rappers can stake any claim to the nickname of their hometown; Drake, for example, can confidently say that (although he may not have created the term) he was largely responsible for the popularity of the “six.” Well, Washington, DC rapper Hevewae can proudly claim partial responsibility for the inception of his hometown’s nickname, “DMV”; according to the rapper, it’s something he did alongside his associate, 20Bello. In fact, you can read more about it in the Washingtonian.
As an artist, Hevewae describes his sound as energetic, tear the club up street Hip-Hop music that can fit in with any of the latest sounds on radio and video channels now. He calls his new style called Ruffcore; he also developed a publishing company (Special Edz Starz Publishing) through BMI and created his independent record label called Ruffcore Ent Group.
