Rapper Emil Aghayev (better known as Emil 13), who at one point in his life saw himself pursuing massage therapy before putting it all on the line for a career in this music game, recently dropped the title track from his debut project, Jump. “I think I’m addicted to chasing visions,” he raps over a dreamy instrumental. Endearingly, the feature listed as “The Family” is actually the people closest to him saying the title of the record in a repeating montage. It’s clear that their presence (and blessing) mean a lot to him.
The song serves as his true introduction to the game, and bar for bar he exhibits a lot of thematic depth and skill. With an emphasis put on pronunciation—meshed with a hearty vocabulary — he presents himself to (convincingly) be an admirable alternative to what’s currently floating around in the game.
It’s not clear when the drop date for the tape is, but Emil is worth putting on your watch list in the meantime.
