Jamo Gang Drops A New Single—EP Coming Soon

The Jamo Gang EP is expected to arrive on 1-30-18 and comes with a bonus track from DJ Premier

2017 was a year full of unexpected and surprising collaborative efforts that real hip-hop heads could be excited about. Only one week into 2018, and we’ve already been given something to look forward to. The super lyrical one Ras Kass — who just last month dropped Year End Closeout, a dope playlist of new music — and MC El Gant has joined forces with producer J57 of the Brown Bag All-Stars to form Jamo Gang.

NOW, to be clear this isn’t left field; DJ Premier dropped a teaser video co-signing the trio last year around this time, and a few loosies were dropped, but a full project failed to materialize until now.

Earlier this week they dropped the first leak from their self-titled EP via HipHopDX, and — as expected — it’s a bucket of flame emojis.

I’m a huge fan of all three of these guys; Gant and Ras have worked together a few times, and I’ve always thought they’d sound great with a more substantial more focused body of work. I’m also still here for single producer projects, and J57, who is so dope that cats fully couldn’t distinguish some of his beats from Premier (who he worked with heavily at one point), is the icing on the cake.

The Jamo Gang EP is expected to arrive on 1-30-18 and comes with a bonus track from DJ Premier.

With a steady rising buzz in the rap game, Brooklyn’s own Corey St. Rose continues to build momentum in New York City. The latter of Corey’s 2017, he gave his fans Vibes; a project that set the tone for what’s to come from the charismatic rapper. Now, to start off his 2018, Corey makes his return with a new single and video for “Get It Back,” produced by Tyeon Thompson.

BK Rapper Corey St. Rose Drops A Visual For His Latest Single "Get Back"

Borrowing elements from some of his borough’s most iconic names, like Big Daddy Kane, the late Notorious B.I.G., and Marcy’s own Jay-Z, Corey’s swaggering persona and (Brooklyn) bravado is on full display in the video directed by Dpoftheyear. We see both sides of Corey as a rapper and showman. He walks the streets of Chinatown in New York City with two ski masked vixens by his side.

As always, Corey’s delivery is witty and boastful. “I just copped a Cuban for the trigger finger/Might cop another one for the middle finger,” he raps. Corey has big plans for 2018, make sure you’re on the lookout!

Vars City Drops High-Energy Single “Party With Me”

The trio is back with another smash hit for the scene. Bringing us new single “Party With Me,” Vars City is on a mission to have every party popping from coast to coast. With cover-art showing a mysterious red ballon (maybe inspired from the movie It), the upbeat, high-energy single is the perfect song to let loose and turn up to just in time for Halloween. With anticipated album titled, Lost in The City,’ I think we all can expect to hear a different sound from the guys, and even more free-spirited lyricism than their first project, ‘No Love In The City.’ Vars City has been performing “Party With Me” at a few events and have received nothing but love surrounding the fiery track. We can’t wait to see the visual coming for this flame-emoji-worthy single!

No stranger to the AAHH fam, Twondon is back with another one–”For My Ex.” After accumulating major respect and admiration for single “Jennifer’s Song” from debut project, ‘Paradise Isn’t Free,’ Twon gives us another conscience “love” track–this time shining light on a former relationship of his that obviously went left. Ironically the title, “For My Ex” is one that not too many exes might even want to click on, assuming that it might be another “ex bashing” song. However, Twon does manage to compliment his ex saying line, “baby girl you bad, you ain’t gotta show it,” and talk about stunting on her in the most respectful way. I think we can sense another project on the way from Twondon after hearing this one. Twondon Drops Single "For My Ex"

Vast Aire And Cosmiq Give Fans A Taste Of The New LP

It takes a great deal of confidence to walk into the fold of a group like Canibal Ox, whose LP The Cold Vein stands as one of the most widely heralded pieces of New York City underground Hip-Hop. That wasn’t at all a problem for producer Cosmiq—formally known as Bill Cosmiq.

“I linked up with Vast Aire years ago through a mutual friend, Taj Hotep,” he told AAHH back in 2015. “The first track we released was Royal Purple Bag off of Vast’s A Space Iliad EP. After that, Can Ox and I continued to connect and work on some records.”

They then released the full-length effort Blade Of The Ronin—produced entirely by Cosmiq. “I let things come naturally, and the compositions started developing an intense cinematic edge,”’he said of LP’s tone.

Now—two years later—Vast Aire and Cosmiq are collaborating on a new LP, Aireplane, which will pair the two as a duo (à la Guru and Premier). As his team explained to AAHH, the project “balances cerebral concepts with witty and entertaining wordplay.”

The album is coming soon on the IGC Records imprint; in the meantime—to tide fans over—they’ve dropped the first single from the project, “Dark Metropolis,” a piano-driven heater, sprinkled that signature sound that Can Ox fans have come to hold so dear.

Check out the new track, below, and keep an eye out for the new LP—right here on AAHH.
