22-year old Philly upstart, Brenni PE$O seems to have all the ingredients necessary to make a comfortable go at this rap thing. With his rapping/singing blend across the new six-song EP, On My Mind, he displays a little of everything — from a trap vibe on “Work,” the almost disco-ish vibe on “Control Of Me,” to the radio-ready “Right Up.” He manages to avoid pigeon-holing himself without reinventing the wheel; although, it also makes his hard to classify. He’s a great alternative to some of the more street music that’s dominating the PA hip-hop scene, though.
Having only recently begun to release music, On My Mind is a solid release; more than worthy of a spot on the playlist this week!
