Rihanna recently provided an update on her highly anticipated new album, often referred to as R9 by fans. During a red carpet appearance at a Fenty Hair event in Los Angeles, she revealed that she’s “starting over” but feels ready to dive back into the studio.
The singer explained that although she’s been working on the album for some time, she had paused her creative process. Now, she’s prepared to revisit her work with fresh ears and a new perspective. She plans to return to the studio to re-examine her songs, deciding which ones she still loves and which ones need reworking.
In a previous interview, Rihanna mentioned that she’s approaching her creative process differently this time. She said her brain is “working backward,” with visual ideas coming first and the music following. This approach could lead to new and exciting songs.
While Rihanna didn’t reveal much about the album’s visuals, she did hint that she and her partner, A$AP Rocky, are collaborating to decide which songs to include. She also mentioned that she already has some hits in the making.
Her last album, ANTI, was released in 2016; will this be her Detox?
