Eastside Flip, a Buffalo figure associated with Westside Gunn and the Griselda community, reportedly died after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run on Buffalo’s Bailey Avenue bridge. He was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, according to WIVB.
Reports published Sept. 4–5 said the crash happened the previous night. A post on Flip’s Instagram also described the incident as a hit-and-run. The investigation was still developing at the time of publication, and no arrest had been publicly confirmed.
In 2022, Flip survived an overdose, and Westside Gunn said he was revived after being taken to a hospital.
Flip’s connection with Gunn was especially visible on the cover of Gunn’s 2022 album, 10. The image placed Flip at the forefront of a release that became a major moment in Gunn’s catalog and helped make the Buffalo street figure recognizable to Griselda fans.
Gunn mourned Flip on X after his death, underscoring the personal relationship behind their creative association. To the Griselda audience, Flip represented a distinctly Buffalo perspective: local, charismatic and central to the community that shaped the label’s rise.
