Earlier this year, Joey Badass kicked off a feud with his song “The Ruler’s Back,” sparking responses from West Coast rappers like Ray Vaughn, who fired back with “Crashout Heritage.” Joey continued to escalate the beef with his Red Bull Spiral freestyle, leading to even more replies from Ray, who retaliated with “Hoe Era,” as well as from AZ Chike and TDE-affiliated battle rapper Daylyt, who both dropped separate diss tracks of their own.
AZ Chike shared his track, “What Would You Do?” on Instagram, targeting Joey’s ghostwriting for Post Malone and his lengthy breaks between releases. Daylyt released a music video for his song, “WRD2MIMVA,” calling out Joey for baiting Kendrick Lamar to battle. Meanwhile, CJ Fly entered the feud with his track “Stingray,” aimed at Ray Vaughn, who has been a prominent figure in the ongoing feud.
While Joey Badass has been the primary focus of the feud, his Pro Era colleague CJ Fly decided to defend him with his diss track directed at Ray Vaughn. In “Stingray,” CJ Fly takes shots at Ray Vaughn with lines like, “If you did all that sober, it’s telling fame is a drug / I saw you swat a fly in your vid, now I’m here to bug.”
