Rapper Vince Staples recently opened up about the future of his Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show, while promoting his new album, Dark Times. In a Rolling Stone profile, Staples reflected on the show’s success and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to challenge conventions in comedy and television.

Known for his hit single “Norf Norf,” Staples was pleasantly surprised by the positive reception of his show. Initially, he had doubts about its broader appeal. “I never expect people to enjoy what I create to that extent,” he admitted. “I think I cater to a niche fan base. I’ve never experienced extreme levels of success, so I’m always prepared for mixed reactions.”

However, Staples expressed genuine enthusiasm for the show’s warm reception, especially considering it was his first time writing, producing, and starring in a series. “This show went remarkably well, especially for a first-time writer, producer, and actor. I’m truly grateful for that,” he said.

Staples had previously asked fans to pressure Netflix into renewing the series for a second season, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Some fans even joked about the show’s length, suggesting that Netflix should release additional episodes as a form of reparations for Black History Month.

The Hip Hop community has also rallied in support of a second season of The Vince Staples Show. Fellow rapper Killer Mike, known for his work with Run The Jewels, has openly praised the show and urged Netflix to renew both it and his own series, Trigger Warning. Mike called Staples a “genius” and backed the show’s continuation by saying, “He doesn’t need my advice. That guy is a genuine genius!”

Veteran rapper and Drink Champs podcast host N.O.R.E. also voiced his approval, declaring it the best TV show currently available. “Vince Staples has the best show on earth,” he tweeted.

While the future of show remains uncertain, the strong support from fans and fellow artists suggests that the series could very well continue in some form.
