Tory Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, disclosed on NewsNation’s CUOMO hosted by Chris Cuomo that his son is being relocated to a different prison following a stabbing incident earlier in the month. Peterson clarified that Lanez’s transfer is standard procedure in California prisons after an act of violence occurs.

“He’s being moved because it’s part of the prison’s protocol that when a situation like this happens. They believe it’s better for him to be in another facility, and so he is being moved as we speak,” Peterson stated. Concerned about potential misinformation, Peterson added, “One thing of course, we are concerned about is because my son is a high-profile person and when things like this happen, there is always some kind of weird news going out trying to spin it to be something else.”

The attack on Lanez took place on May 12 by another inmate at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, resulting in his hospitalization. Lanez suffered collapsed lungs and was stabbed 14 times, but is reportedly in good spirits while recovering. Despite the incident, Lanez’s father emphasized that his son is not a troublemaker and was well-liked by correctional officers.

Currently serving a 10-year sentence for felony counts related to the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, Lanez’s case has gained traction again due to the stabbing and claims of new evidence. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has called for Gov. Newsom to pardon Lanez based on this alleged evidence. However, Megan Thee Stallion and her legal team continue to dispute these claims, asserting that Lanez was responsible for the shooting.
