The Young Thug trial has captured headlines once again due to a witness who refused to testify against the rapper despite being offered immunity. Lil Woody, an affiliate of YSL, invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during his testimony, prompting Judge Ural Glanville to hold him in contempt of court.
Lil Woody’s refusal to answer even basic questions, such as stating his age, led Judge Glanville to order his detainment until Monday. This action was taken in response to the prosecution’s offer of immunity in exchange for his testimony against Young Thug. In reaction to this development, Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, has filed a motion for a mistrial.
This incident is not the first time a witness has refused to testify in this case. Earlier this month, rapper YFN Lucci also declined to testify. Lucci’s attorney stated that his client would not be testifying, noting that being listed as a witness did not carry significant implications.
Lucci became involved in the case after allegations surfaced that Young Thug ordered a hit on him, resulting in his stabbing while in jail in 2022. Two YSL affiliates were allegedly behind the attack. Lucci has publicly affirmed that he will not testify, stating, “Even in an earthquake we wouldn’t break n-gga know we solid #Free650.”
Young Thug faces eight charges, including conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, two counts of participation in criminal street gang activity, and multiple drug and weapons offenses.
