Despite widespread criticism of Timbaland’s AI ventures, longtime friend Swizz Beatz has come to his defense. During a live stream with the legendary producer, Young Guru, and 19Keys, Swizz expressed support for Tim’s foray into AI, highlighting the importance of diversity in the field.

Swizz emphasized the need for transparency in the music industry. He offered constructive criticism, suggesting alternative approaches for Timbaland’s AI endeavors. The producer also stressed the importance of clear communication within the music community.

“That’s a hell of an announcement,” he said. “When I seen it, people hit me I’m like ‘God damn. I ain’t speak to Tim about this. I would’ve given him a couple different ways to go about it. I respect you as your own boss but we can always communicate. Our people are delicate and we have to be patient with our people because they act like they know but they really don’t know.”

In response to the backlash, Timbaland shared an AI video on Instagram featuring animals in human clothing critiquing the music landscape. The video mocked detractors of Timbaland’s Stage Zero label, new AI artist TaTa, and the genre “A-pop.” The animals in the video defended AI in music, highlighting the role of technology in creative processes.

While Timbaland’s AI ventures continue to face scrutiny, Swizz Beatz’s support underscores the complexities of innovation in the music industry.
