Redman pulled up to Sway in the Morning with the usual energy: jokes, bars, and Redman-isms in full effect. Now officially a co-host on the show, he was in rare form—welcoming fans, vibing with the crew, and fielding calls like a seasoned radio vet.
But then the tone shifted. And no one saw it coming.
Midway through the show, Sway brought up a clip from Redman’s Instagram—an emotional public service announcement warning women and parents about a spike in kidnappings and human trafficking. In the video, Redman urged caution, telling followers not to accept business cards, money, or even compliments from strangers, saying some may be laced with chemicals used to disorient or incapacitate victims.
“It’s a high alert right now,” Redman said. “I got a daughter, I got nieces, and I’m drilling them right now.”
What followed next stunned the room. A caller named David from Ohio phoned in. He thanked Redman for speaking up—then revealed he had lost his own daughter to the very kind of situation Redman was describing. She had been missing for seven months before her body was found. You could hear the pain in his voice, but also the clarity of his purpose: “They don’t want us to speak on this,” he said. “But this is real. Every single day.”
Redman, audibly moved, responded with calm urgency. “This is exactly why I said it, bro,” he told David. “People don’t believe until it happens to them. I just felt something that morning—back-to-back posts about missing women and kids. No jokes, no music. Just story after story. I knew God was telling me something.”
The show pivoted from there. It wasn’t entertainment anymore—it was community. Mike Muse chimed in with practical tools: drink-testing strips, sharing real-time location data, not taking open water in ride shares. Heather B added that women should consider not using their real names on Uber accounts, or getting dropped off directly at home. Small actions, big potential impact.
And in the center of it all was Redman. He didn’t plan the moment—but when it came, he didn’t back away either.
