As he awaits his upcoming court hearing, Lil Durk is facing new allegations from federal prosecutors who claim that an interview with DJ Akademiks may have incriminated the Chicago rapper.
U.S. Attorney Bilal A. Essayli filed a motion accusing Durk of threatening witnesses and their families in connection to the murder-for-hire plot he’s charged in. He emphasized that this case is not about entertainment, stating, “The defendant is on trial because he directed, orchestrated, and financed the brazen murder plot at issue in this case.”
Durk’s attempt to dismiss the charges based on the use of his lyrics as evidence was denied by the court earlier this month. Now, prosecutors are focusing on his interview with Akademiks, where he made a cryptic statement about online comments related to King Von’s death, implying possible retaliation.
Despite these claims, online reactions have been skeptical, with many questioning the validity of the prosecution’s interpretation. Lil Durk is currently in custody and is making his third attempt at securing bond, offering $2.7 million in assets and other conditions.
With his next hearing scheduled for June 2, the outcome remains uncertain as the legal saga surrounding Lil Durk continues to unfold.
