Joey Bada$$ isn’t letting up. In what’s become one of the more chaotic (and entertaining) beefs of the year, the Brooklyn rapper just dropped “My Town,” a sharp diss aimed primarily at TDE’s Ray Vaughn—but he also makes time to send a few stray shots Kendrick Lamar’s way.
“I’m the real boogeyman, y’all n****s should be afraid / Get the general, I’m killing his troops,” Joey raps, before twisting the knife with: “Don’t make me Pulitzer, better be wise because / I’m dottin’ T’s and cross your eyes like Whitaker.”
This marks the second time in a week that Joey has name-dropped Kendrick. On his previous track, “The Finals,” he offered a half salute, half challenge: “I salute you Kenny but I know you well aware / You lookin’ for some competition? Then just know that I’ll be right here.”
That track also included some ruthless jabs at Ray Vaughn, suggesting clout-chasing and a one-sided loyalty to Kendrick: “Crash out over n****s who won’t even let you in the house / I bet you ain’t even got his number.”
All of this is just the latest escalation in a feud that’s been snowballing since Joey dropped “The Ruler’s Back” earlier this year. That sparked responses from West Coast names like Ray Vaughn (“Crashout Heritage”), AZ Chike (“What Would You Do?”), and TDE’s battle-tested Daylyt (“WRD2MIMVA”). Each of them took their turn dissecting Joey—whether it was for ghostwriting claims, long absences between albums, or his attempts to bait Kendrick into a battle.
Even CJ Fly, Joey’s longtime Pro Era partner, stepped into the arena with “Stingray,” firing back at Vaughn with lines like: “If you did all that sober, it’s telling fame is a drug / I saw you swat a fly in your vid, now I’m here to bug.”
So far, Kendrick has remained silent—but with Joey continuing to apply pressure, the question remains: how long can Dot hold his peace?
Stay tuned. This one’s far from over.
