Grammy-winning R&B artist Eric Bellinger has partnered with Hooky, a music startup specializing in AI-powered voice solutions, to launch a new online subscription platform for music creation and distribution.
Bellinger, known for his innovative approach and prolific output, is one of the first artists to collaborate with Hooky. The platform allows creators to experiment with AI-generated vocals modeled after Bellinger’s voice.
“If you aren’t afraid of it, AI could be your best friend,” Bellinger told AFROTECH in a recent interview. He views AI as a tool to enhance various aspects of music production, from generating artwork ideas to crafting song titles.
Hooky, co-founded by Grammy-winning producer Jordan “DJ Swivel” Young, aims to keep artists in control of their work. “I’d rather have control than just see the songs go out without my permission,” Bellinger said.
The partnership sparked discussion on “The Joe Budden Podcast,” where host Joe Budden and his co-hosts debated the implications of AI in music.
Budden expressed concern about AI’s impact on creativity, saying, “The passion that’s lost from it, the actual creative process… we’ve got too addicted to convenience. We’re going to really 100% get desensitized to everything in life where we’re just going to start becoming living robots.”
