Legendary rapper Fat Joe has revealed that he will be releasing a new album in August, joining the ranks of other rap veterans such as Nas, DJ Premiere, LL Cool J, Common, and Pete Rock, who are also dropping new music this year.

Speaking to a TMZ reporter in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the Terror Squad frontman said, “Breaking news: Fat Joe be dropping a[n] album in August, too, so put me in that list of pioneers and legends and icons.”

The 53-year-old’s last album was released in 2021, and he had previously stated that he didn’t plan on releasing new material anytime soon.

In addition to his music career, Fat Joe has been politically active, recently appearing alongside fellow rapper E-40 at a Joe Biden rally in North Carolina. The event took place a day after the 81-year-old Democrat debated Donald Trump as part of the 2024 presidential election campaign.

A campaign official described Fat Joe and E-40 as “legends of the music industry, who understand the importance of utilizing their platforms to ensure their fan base understands the stakes of this election.”
