The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) will induct hip-hop pioneers DJ Hurricane, Davy DMX and DJ Jazzy Jay on Aug. 24 at its Stony Brook museum.
The ceremony, set for 7:30 p.m., will feature performances by the inductees and LIMEHOF member DJ Johnny Juice of Public Enemy.

Davy DMX, also known as David Franklin Reeves Jr., made his mark through collaborations with Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow and The Fat Boys. His productions have been sampled by Jay-Z, Kanye West and Common, cementing his influence on hip-hop sound.
DJ Jazzy Jay, a foundational figure in hip-hop, played a crucial role in creating Def Jam Recordings with Rick Rubin. He produced early recordings for A Tribe Called Quest and Fat Joe, and his Bronx studio has been instrumental in shaping hip-hop’s sound.
LIMEHOF Vice Chairman Tom Needham said, “These pioneers transformed the art of DJing, making it a central element of the genre and influencing countless artists. Their legacy is a vital part of hip hop’s story.”
The inductees join a roster of previously honored artists including LL Cool J, Public Enemy, EPMD, Run-DMC, Kurtis Blow, Eric B. & Rakim, The Fat Boys, Salt-n-Pepa and Whodini.
