Sean “Diddy” Combs is “very eager” to testify in his upcoming criminal trial, according to his attorney Marc Agnifilo. Speaking to TMZ for an upcoming documentary, Agnifilo said, “I don’t know that I could keep him off the stand. I think he is very eager to tell his story.”
The rap mogul faces charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Agnifilo believes Diddy will address all aspects of the case, including a 2016 video showing him assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel hallway.
“He has his story, and he has a story that, I think, only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real time,” Agnifilo said. “It’s a human story. It’s a story of love, it’s a story of hurt, it’s a story of heartbreak.”
Diddy was arrested on September 16 and indicted on multiple charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and forced labor. He has pleaded not guilty.
In May, Diddy apologized for his behavior in the 2016 video, calling it “inexcusable” and stating he sought professional help afterward.
Agnifilo maintains that Diddy is “an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.” He added that the rapper has been cooperative with the investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York in anticipation of the charges.
No trial date has been set. Diddy remains in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
The documentary, The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, is set to premiere on September 26 on Tubi.
