Common and Pete Rock have announced their highly anticipated collaborative album The Auditorium Vol. 1, set for release on July 12 via Loma Vista Recordings/Concord. This full-length project brings together one of hip-hop’s most evocative emcees, Common, with the legendary producer Pete Rock, promising to be a landmark in hip-hop history.
The album is described as “the past, present, and future happening all at once,” transcending time and guaranteed to be an absolute banger. To build excitement, they have released the second single “Dreamin’,” which samples Aretha Franklin’s iconic “Day Dreaming,” along with a VEVO Ctrl session performance video.
Common expressed his lifelong dream of collaborating with Pete Rock, stating, “His beats, his production, his scratches, took me to a place where I could just MC freely. It felt like I was home.” The album features guest appearances from Jennifer Hudson, Bilal, PJ, and De La Soul’s Posdnuos.
