Alexander Edwards, a record executive at Sony Music Publishing, has addressed the recent brawl he was involved in at the Cannes Film Festival with Travis Scott and rapper/super-producer Southside. Edwards, who is currently dating Cher, downplayed the incident and did not disclose what triggered the altercation at the party hosted by businessman Richie Akiva.
In an interview with TMZ, Edwards stated that he holds no grudges against Southside. He expressed, “It’s all good. Shout out to Southside, that’s my guy. I know he was just defending his boy and doing what he was supposed to do.” Edwards emphasized that he did not initiate the confrontation but would defend himself if necessary, adding, “I don’t have any hard feelings; it is what it is. It happened as it did. I don’t want to fight. I didn’t start it, but I will protect myself. It was just a healthy scuffle.”
Edwards also shared Cher’s take on the incident, quoting, “As Future says, ‘Whatever I’m with, my partner is with it too.'”
The fight reportedly began when Edwards approached the stage and made contact with Scott, who was allegedly irritated about being introduced alongside Tyga, both of whom have dated Kylie Jenner. Edwards and Southside then started exchanging punches before Scott managed to separate them. Surprisingly, no one was injured during the altercation.
Tyga, who was also present at the party, did not get involved in the fight, nor did Cher, who was in attendance. Edwards and Cher have been dating since September 2022, after meeting at Paris Fashion Week. Cher has spoken publicly about their relationship, which has a 40-year age gap, stating, “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous. But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
