Genre-bending musician Brady Watt has joined forces with Dipset legend Jim Jones to release their latest single and accompanying video, “Godspeed.” The track, co-produced by Heatmakerz, showcases Watt’s innovative approach to music, blending vintage gospel samples with rock and roll and street elements.
Watt’s groundbreaking “Bass & Bars” series has amassed over 100 million views, featuring collaborations with notable artists such as Freeway, Melle Mel & The Furious 5, Large Professor, The Pharcyde, Trinidad James, Lord Finesse, and AZ. Beyond his online success, Watt has performed at prestigious events, including the Montreal Jazz Festival alongside DJ Premier and headlining the Rotterdam Double Bass Festival. He also opened for blues and guitar legend Gary Clark Jr. on his U.S. tour, culminating in a remarkable performance at Radio City Music Hall.
The creation of “Godspeed” began at Heatmakerz’s studio, where Watt selected a beat that resonated with him from a collection of approximately 20 options. He then added his own instrumentation, including bass, synths, and keys from Carlos Homs, to refine the track and craft the hook.
During the recording process, Watt was coping with the loss of a close friend’s father. He channeled his emotions into the song, transforming his sadness into a positive message about gratitude, alignment with destiny, and God’s timing.
“With Dipset already on my mind, we reached out to Jim Jones, and he miraculously came to the studio a few days later,” Watt recalled. “Jim did the verse on the spot and brought everything to the next level. Thankfully, my cameraman was there to document everything.”
