E-40 recently expressed his frustration with a fan who mistook him for fellow Hip Hop icon Fat Joe. The incident occurred on Saturday when an unidentified individual approached E-40 with a camera and addressed him as Fat Joe.

The 56-year-old rapper responded by mentioning that he had recently been with Fat Joe, likely referring to their shared stage at a Joe Biden rally in North Carolina last month. Upon realizing the fan’s mistake, E-40 questioned the person’s knowledge of Hip Hop culture, asking, “When was you born? 2024?” He then walked away, advising the fan to “do your homework.”

E-40 and Fat Joe’s recently performed at Raleigh NC Biden rally; an official from the veteran politician’s team praised the rappers as “legends of the music industry” who understood the importance of using their platforms to educate fans about the stakes of the election.

In a separate event earlier this year, Fat Joe moderated a closed-door meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and several individuals who had been pardoned for previous marijuana-related convictions. During the public-facing part of the event, Harris addressed the stark issue of marijuana’s current classification as a dangerous substance, comparing it to heroin and even fentanyl, which she called “absurd” and “patently unfair.”

Fat Joe, who prioritized the meeting when called upon by the vice president, told the press, “When the vice president calls me, I stop everything.”
