André 3000 has responded to LL Cool J’s recent comments about his debut solo album, New Blue Sun. The project, which was released in November, features André 3000 playing the flute and has received mixed reactions from fans due to its lack of rapping.
During an appearance on LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s show “The Shop,” LL Cool J expressed his desire for André 3000 to return to rapping instead of playing the flute. In response, André 3000 acknowledged that while he believes rappers should continue rapping throughout their lives, he also emphasized the importance of exploring new creative avenues and not relying on past styles.
As he approaches his 50th birthday, André 3000 admitted that he doesn’t feel he has any compelling topics to rap about. He views the flute as a vital means of creative expression and believes that following the direction in which the wind is blowing him has led to his most recent artistic pursuits.
